The easiest way to enable Windows Mail in Windows 7 is if you have access to a Vista machine. If not, see the links at the bottom. On the Win7 machine, find the "Windows Mail" folder in Program Files.

I thought that Windows Live Mail is an email program whereby if deleted, 'Thunderbird' wouldn't work but you state that Windows Live Mail is an 'email client'. So what is the email program associated with Windows 7 allowing Thunderbird to work?.

I just converted to Win 7 and found that Windows Mail is gone. I don't want to use Windows live, I'm not interested in conversing with the world, I just want to send emails. Outlook Express is gone and I have started using Outlook.

It's no longer possible to install the Vista version of Windows Mail and Calendar for Windows 7. -based email apps like Gmail and are full-featured alternatives that work in your browser.

Windows Mail has been removed from Windows 7, along with several other applications. We'll look at where to find their replacements.
